The Melbourne Marathon

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Distances: 5km walk, 5km run, 10km run, ½ marathon and full marathon

Coming into its 32nd, year 20,000 runners will once again take to the streets of one of Australia’s most beautiful cities. Melbourne is no stranger to big sporting occasions. The city hosts the F1 Grand Prix, the Melbourne cricket ground (MCG) and The Australian Tennis Open. The marathon is just another jewel in their sporting crown.

The course takes in some of the city’s most beautiful sights including Flinders Street, the Rod Laver tennis arena, the St Kilda coastline and the Royal Botanical Gardens. The finish of the race takes place in front of the towering grandstands at the world famous MCG.

The race ticks all the boxes, different distances mean that any athlete experienced or novice can take part on the big day. Options available are:

St.George Melbourne Marathon (42.195km)
Flight Centre Half Marathon (21.2km)
The Coffee Club 10km
ASICS 5.7km Run
ASICS 4km Walk
Kids’ WB 2.5km Run

A trip to Melbourne should not be limited to just the marathon, make sure you spend time exploring the neighbouring St Kilda and Geelong and if you are lucky enough to have more time take a car and travel along the coast to the Twelve Apostles, one of the must see sights in Australia.
