Completing an Ironman event is the ultimate badge of honour for any triathlete. The events are designed to push athletes to their very limit. When speaking to almost any triathlete worldwide they will agree that crossing the finish line at their first Ironman was a life affirming moment. Not sold yet? Then throw in the fact that our event takes place on the stunning coastline of Port Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia and you have the recipe for a memorable occasion.
Approximately 1,500 athletes will tackle the course in 2010 and with a number of places up for grabs at the World Championships in Kona, competition will be fiercer than ever.
The swim course starts next to the marina in Port Macquarie town centre, before jumping on the bike to tackle one of the most spectacular rides in the world alongside the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful and undulating Pacific Drive. The run course takes competitors down the Hastings River foreshores and along the beaches and parts of Pacific Drive which combine rolling hills with stunning scenery to provide excellent viewing for both competitors and spectators.
If you are looking to add to your collection of Ironman races or thinking about taking the plunge for the first time then Port Macquarie is for you.
